  • This is a very rare red plastic pin badge from the 1932 May Day celebrations in former Czechoslovakia. One I haven't come across before.
  • The badge has a stick pin style fastener and is 3cm high.
  • Featuring a man breaking the chains from his manacled hands. The 1930s saw the rapid rise of fascism, with Mussolini declaring in 1932 that facism was the 'creed of the century' positioning Italy in direct opposition to the ideals held by countries pursuing Marxism and Democracy. It was a strong statement of aggression that would soon lead to WW2.
  • May day parades are still held to this day in The Czech Republic, they have always been based around the welcoming of springtime after the long, cold winter. Typically youth groups and fraternal organisations would parade down the streets along a specified route. Trade unions and the military would also march the route bearing banners and flags and to this day it is quite a spectacle.
