Vintage Vecernicek Czech Cultural Icon Rumcajs Wife Manka Cartoon Pin Badge

The pin on sale here is the unmistakable cartoon figure of Manka the wife of Rumcajs, it is made from white plastic with coloured enamel paints. It has a stick pin fastener and the badge face is 1.6cm high.

Rumcajs was first produced in the 1960's and was the creation of Radek Pilar. It was a childrens' cartoon that cleverly echoed the political changes of the time. The Prague spring was just around the corner and Rumcajs and his family were proponents of change.

The cartoon is still a regular feature on the children's program Večerníček.
