A gold coloured metal pin badge with a 2.4cm high badge face and the text ГОТОВ К ПВО which means 'Ready for Air Defense' in Russian. This pin is from the former Soviet Union and belonged to a civil defense worker.
The rear side has a safety clasp style fastener. The picture features the hammer and sickle with star motif.
During the height of the cold war, Czechoslovakia took its civil defense duties very seriously and to this day monthly sirens tests are carried out throughout Prague.
The most common civil defense duties were ushering civilians towards shelters, enforcing blackout regulations and distributing gas masks.
