- The text reads 'MOSCOW'
- The original four cities to receive the honorary Soviet title "Hero City" for their outstanding resistance during World War II were Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), Stalingrad (now Volgograd), Sevastopol, and Odessa.
- Moscow was awarded the title Hero City in 1965.
