This is a rare silver coloured metal badge from the Austrian May Day celebrations. Featuring the silver text 'KPO IMMER FUR OSTERREICH MAY 1st'.
The KPO is the Kommunistische Partei Österreichs
The badge has a safety clasp style fastener and is 5.8cm wide.
May day parades have always been based around the welcoming of springtime after the long, cold winter. Typically youth groups and fraternal organisations would parade down the streets along a specified route. Trade unions and the military would also march the route bearing banners and flags creating quite a spectacle.
