Vintage German DSB Deutscher Stenographenbund Shorthand Enamel Lapel Pin Stickpin

The pin badge is a gold-toned metal rhombus featuring a height of 1.8cm. The item is secured on the reverse by a long, integrated stickpin fastener featuring a twisted, knurled texture along the central portion of the needle stem.
The visual layout features an elongated diamond geometry filled with a textured, deep blue enameled background. Centered within the shield composition is a raised, white enameled quill nib flanked by a pair of outstretched, stylized wings along the base. The capital letters "D", "S", and "B" are stamped directly into the metallic surface, framing the central clerical insignia with precise, crisp borders to isolate the characters and white elements from the surrounding translucent color work.

Dating from the mid-to-late 20th century, this membership stickpin represents the Deutscher Stenographenbund (DSB), Germany's historic advocacy and training association for shorthand, stenography, and professional text processing founded in 1868. The specialized emblem combines a stylized writing quill with spread wings to symbolize the agility, speed, and manual precision central to the shorthand craft. This exceptionally well-preserved professional society award provides excellent material insight into European labor guilds and clerical history, which you can investigate further within our collections of vintage German society pins and office history collectibles.
