Historical Background
Tatra Smichov and CKD Transport Systems were formed in 1852 in Smichov, Prague and underwent many name changes and ownerships in their long history. They still exist today as part of the Siemens Group.
- Tatra Smichov became Vagónka Tatra Smíchov in 1950, Vagonka Studenka in 1958, and then amalgamated into CKD in 1963.
