  • This is a rare metal badge from the defunct national airline of Bulgaria Balkan, who were formerly Tabso and a major passenger carrier in the 1970's.

    The badge is made of silver coloured metal has a long stick pin style fastener and the badge face is 1.5cm wide.

    Tabso introduced the Ilyushin IL-18, pictured on this badge, in the 1960's which is when this pin dates from.


  • Balkan Airlines was Bulgaria's government-owned flag carrier between 1947 and 2002. During the 1970s the airline became a significant European carrier.
    The company encountered financial instability following the fall of communism in Eastern Europe. It declared bankruptcy in 2002.
