Sputnik 1 Satellite Launch All Russian Exhibition Centre BAHX Space Pin Badge

The badge face is 2.5cm wide and has a safety clasp style fastener to the rear. The badge itself is made from a silver coloured metal and features Sputnik, the first man made object to orbit the Earth.

This is a souvenir pin from the All Russia Exhibition Centre in Moscow. The centre was a showcase for socialism and in the 1960's it was apparent that Russia really was a world leader in some new technologies. The centre still exists today and is a proud testament to the innovative Russian people.
