• A pretty, velorex logo pin, it is made from gold coloured metal and advertises the Hradec Kralove plant that the company moved to in 1950, is 2.6cm wide, and has a stick pin fastener to the rear.

  Historical Background

  The car industry of post-war Czechoslovakia was not able to provide sufficient number of vehicles for its citizens, resulting in long waiting periods and quotas.

  Demand drove two enterprising men to manufacture microcars from tubular metal and canvas while incorporating motorcycle engines.

  In 1963 production of the newly designed model 16 started. In 1971 production of three wheeled cars stopped and the company switched to production of four-wheed cars. Problems in design and manufacturing and the inability to compete with mass produced Trabants turned the four-wheeler into a commercial failure and its production was stopped in 1973.
