An antique golden coloured metal favorit Brno bicycles pin from former Czechoslovakia, it is 2.3cm wide and has a long, stick pin style fastener to the rear. Featuring excellent detail of the favorit logo and a wheel in oven baked enamels. Historical Background
The Favorit bicycle entered into production in the 1950's with the nationalisation of the post war bicycle factories under a new socialist government and continued production until 2001.
It was in 1950, the starting year for the Favorit bicycle company, that racing bicycles began to emerge. Apparently, the first bikes were made for the Czech national bicycle racing team. As one might expect, those bikes featured quality materials and were built by experienced crafts people who knew how to build great bikes.
Favorit bikes are still, somewhat surprisingly, sought after here in the Czech Republic and fetch high second hand prices when you consider that modern bicycles are able to employ state of the art materials that were unavailable in the 1950's.
