1981 Czechoslovakia Peoples Militia LM Armed Worker Guard Communist Pin Badge
- This is a pin badge from the LM celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Czechoslovak Communist Party, the KSC and features the text 60 LET KSC. The badge face is 2.6cm high and has a long, stick pin fastener to the rear.
Item Description The people's militia of Czechoslovakia were armed civilians, usually with communist leanings, whose purpose it was to protect businesses, factories and industrial sites from the enemies of the state. They were hand picked by the communist party and issued with weapons and any tools that could assist them in their duties. In reality the enemies of the state were the rightful owners of the businesses, whose capitalist ways were not compatible with the 1948 communist takeover of the country.
Militiamen were posted outside factories in order to protect them until the smooth transition to state ownership was ensured and later they were used as police assistants and communist puppets.
The militias were dissolved in 1989 after the fall of communism.
