  • This is a rare gold coloured metal badge from the 1979 May Day celebrations in Havirov in former Czechoslovakia. Featuring the red carnation, flower of socialism under the Soviet Union.
  • The badge has a long stick pin style fastener and is 1.8cm wide.
  • May day parades are still held to this day in The Czech Republic, they have always been based around the welcoming of springtime after the long, cold winter. Typically youth groups and fraternal organisations would parade down the streets along a specified route. Trade unions and the military would also march the route bearing banners and flags and to this day it is quite a spectacle.
