• A rare 1972 pennant flag from the former Czechoslovak secret police organisation,PS VB Pomocna straz Verejne bezpecnosti.

  The flag is made from a stiff, printed plastic with a hanging loop folded into the top edge. The flag is 20cm high and is in excellent condition.

  Historical Background

  The PS VB were closely aligned with the Czechoslovak state and secret police and were officially the 'Public security' force of volunteers who, with good socialist intentions, would support police activities when needed.

  The organisation was hugely unpopular with non PS VB members (the general public) as active involvement in the PS VB exposed you to be some sort of communist puppet.

  The PS VB would, on a basic level, help with crowd control during mass public events and maintain crowd control.
  Many PS VB guards saw themselves as secret police informants and reported non-communist activities to the authorities.
