• A pretty silver coloured metal, medal style pin badge with a 5.5cm high badge face and a safety clasp style fastener to the rear.

  This is a National Front Workers pin badge from former East Germany with the text ACTIVIST on the front and the motto ' To live in a socialist way requires to work in a socialist way' on the reverse side.

  HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

  The National integration ( NAW ) of the GDR, founded in November 1951, was originally intended to implement projects in the capital and was leter extended to the whole country.

  NAW workers were voluntary and took part in a collective rebuilding of Eastern Germany.
