1964 Hunting Dog Breeders Show Nymburk Memorial MKP Podhajsky Hunter Pin Badge - A 1964, gold coloured metal pin badge from former Czechoslovakia, the badge face is 3cm wide and has a long stick pin style fastener to the rear.
The badge is from the special dog show event marking the life of someone called Karel Pohajsky in the city of Nymburk, Czechoslovakia. The event is abbreviated to MKP or Memorial Karel Pohajsky.
Karel Podhajsky (1871-1930) is inextricably linked with the history of Czech hunting. He co-founded the first Czechoslovak hunting organization in 1923 and became the founder and head of the Czechoslovak Dog Stud Book. He was an excellent breeder of hounds, whose breeding, talents and training he devoted his entire life to. He famously said that 'there is no hunting without a good hunting dog'. In honor of his memory, the Czech-Moravian Hunting Unit has been organizing the Karel Podhajsky Memorial International Pointer Competition since 1938.
