- This is a very pretty 1962 Vostok 3 and 4 pin badge celebrating the successful launch of the rockets. A silver coloured metal badge, the badge face is 3cm wide and has a modified stick pin style fastener to the rear. Featuring the rockets blasting around Earth leaving a trail in the shape of the Soviet hammer and Sickle, in the background is the launch date August 1962.
- Vostok 3 and Vostok 4 were launched a day apart, and together these missions marked the first time that more than one manned spacecraft was in orbit at the same time, giving Soviet mission controllers the opportunity of learning how to manage this scenario.
The spacecraft came within 5 km of each other, well within sight of each other. Although the Vostok-capsules had no maneuvering capability so they quickly drifted apart. Vostok 3 also conducted several scientific observations and furthered improved spacecraft to ground-control and inter spacecraft communication tecniques.
Vostok 3 would also record the first ever colour film footage of the Earth from space.
