A pretty, antique badge over 50 years old and in excellent condition. From the 1959 Builders Day in former Czechoslovakia.
The badge is made from a gold coloured metal and is 1.7cm in diameter, with a long, stick pin style fastener to the rear and is in good condition.
In the 1950's the countries under the Soviet sphere of control took on the enormous task of rebuilding the infrastructure of Eastern Europe. Building work and new architectural designs brought a flood of workers into the cities and to celebrate the successes of this new productivity a national holiday was declared. Builders Day, traditionally the 14th of July.
Today it is no longer a national holiday, but calendars still mark the day.
