- This is a rare gold coloured metal badge from the 1951 May Day celebrations in former Czechoslovakia. It is made from pressed sheet metal and is probably hand painted. Featuring the Red star of the Soviet Union and the date 1951. Russia had only recently welcomed Czechoslovakia into its sphere of influence in 1948. This is a genuine piece of history and is over 60 years old.
- The badge has a long stick pin style fastener and is 2.5cm high.
- May day parades are still held to this day in The Czech Republic, they have always been based around the welcoming of springtime after the long, cold winter. Typically youth groups and fraternal organisations would parade down the streets along a specified route. Trade unions and the military would also march the route bearing banners and flags and to this day it is quite a spectacle.
