- A gold coloured metal, medal style badge 4.3cm high from the top to the bottom and with a safety clasp style fastener to the rear of the ribbon section.
The reverse side has the inscription: 'sozialistische arbeiten lernen und leben' meaning 'work, live and learn socialism'.
The front side has the inscriprtion 'Kollektiv der sozialistischen Arbeit' meaning 'Socialist Work Collective'According to German Wikipedia the Kollektiv der sozialistischen Arbeit form of the excellence medal existed from 1960 onwards
This medal for excellence was introduced in 1960.
It was awarded to workers in a collective team who had shown excellent performance, application of socialist doctrines and a good work ethic.
